Who are the partners ?

The experimental phase of teleconsultation using satellite was implemented at the very beginning of the 2000’s through a partnership joining the so-called ‘Centre Hospitalier Andrée Rosemon’ (CHAR) in Cayenne, the CNES (the French Space Agency), and MEDES (Institute for Space Medicine and Physiology). Then, after 2004, an operational development took place. The so-called SAMU (a common French acronym for Emergency Medical Support Service) played an important role in this system. Since it works 24h per day, it enables receiving teleconsultation requests in real time). The relevant expertise is brought up by the CHAR.
